A 10-Day Bali Itinerary for Slow Travellers Who Actually Want to Rest

Most Bali itineraries try to fit the entire island into seven days. Waterfall on Monday. Temple on Tuesday. Rice terrace on Wednesday. Surf lesson Thursday. Repeat until exhausted. You leave Bali more tired than when you arrived, with a camera full of photos and a body full of regret.

This itinerary is different. It assumes you're staying at a villa like Karaya, and that the goal of your trip is not to see everything — but to feel rested, present, and genuinely restored by the end of it.

Days 1–3: Arrive and Decompress

Day 1: Arrive. Airport transfer to the villa. Settle in. Float in the pool. Sleep early. Day 2: Wake up without an alarm. Breakfast by the pool. Walk the neighborhood. Find a local warung for lunch. Swim. Nap. Sunset drinks at the villa. Day 3: Your first full day of nothing. By now your nervous system has started to downshift. The urgency to "do things" begins to fade. This is where the holiday actually starts.

"Day 3 is when Bali begins. The first two days are just your body arriving."

Days 4–5: Gentle Exploration

Day 4: Morning yoga at the villa (arranged by your concierge). Late breakfast. Afternoon: explore Seminyak on foot — boutiques, galleries, a coffee shop. Evening: your first in-villa dinner with the private chef. Day 5: Day trip to Ubud — but slowly. Leave at 9am (not 6am). Visit one temple (Tirta Empul is our pick). Lunch at a warung in the rice terraces. Return by 4pm. Pool. Sunset.

Days 6–7: Go Deeper

Day 6: Balinese massage at the villa (90 minutes). Afternoon cooking class with your chef — learn to make sate lilit and lawar. Eat what you made for dinner. Day 7: Beach day. Seminyak beach in the morning (quiet, uncrowded). Lunch at a beachfront warung. Afternoon at the villa. This is the day most guests say they feel fully relaxed for the first time.

Days 8–9: Adventure (Optional)

Day 8: Sunrise trek (if you feel like it) — Mount Batur is the popular choice, but Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud is gentler and equally beautiful. Or skip the trek entirely and spend another day at the pool. Both are valid choices. Day 9: Nusa Penida day trip via private speedboat. Snorkeling, crystal-clear water, lunch on the island. Or: another villa day. A massage. A book. The pool.

Day 10: Departure

Wake up slowly. Final swim. Pack without rushing. Your concierge handles the airport transfer. On the drive to the airport, you'll feel something unusual: you're not relieved to be leaving. You're not counting the days until your next holiday. You feel, genuinely and simply, restored.

That's what ten days in Bali — done slowly, from a proper base — actually feels like.
